SMH Maternal-Child Health on National Honor Roll

St. Mary's Hospital is the only hospital in New Jersey to be listed on The Immunization Action Coalition's Hepatitis B Birth Dose Honor Roll.  This Honor Roll recognizes U.S. birthing institutions that have attained a birth dose coverage rate of 90% or greater and have met specific additional criteria. These criteria help define the important elements of a birth dose policy.  In addition to the 90% dose coverage rate, hospitals to be included in IAC's Hepatitis B Birth Dose Honor Roll must implement written policies, procedures, and protocols to protect all newborns from Hepatitis B virus infection prior to hospital discharge.  The St. Mary's Maternal-Child Health Department attained an impressive birth dose coverage rate of 98% in 2013, placing it in the top 16 hospitals nationwide.  Congratulations to Karin Stalter, RN, Interim Director of Maternal-Child Heath / Manager of the Cancer Center, and the entire Maternal-Child Health department.
